Opera singer and soprano Sanna Matinniemi will bring to life Karelian songs, which have been collected from people. “My Most Beautiful Karelian Songs” concert will feature the most famous Karelian songs. Sanna Matinniemi performs at restaurant (Juhlatalo) at 5.30 pm.
Matinniemi was born in Juankoski in eastern Finland and now lives in Vienna. She is making an international career as an opera and concert soloist. Her grandmother was an evacuee from Karelia and Matinniemi wants to honor her roots and maintain Karelian song culture.

Pianist and doctoral researcher Jenna Ristilä specializes in working with singers. She also has Karelian roots. Ristilä’s research at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts focuses on the works of Finnish women composers from the 19th century to the present day.
